Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and Mallikharjun, an individual sole proprietor ("we", "us"), who runs CiteGaps. By creating an account or using CiteGaps you agree to them. If you use CiteGaps for a company or for clients, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms on their behalf.

1. The service

CiteGaps collects answers from AI answer engines (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overview and Google AI Mode) for questions you choose, analyses which brands and sources those answers mention, and produces scores, recommendations, content drafts and reports. The features and limits of each plan are described on the pricing page.

2. Your account

  • You need a valid email address to create an account. Keep your sign-in details safe; you are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Each account has one owner. On the Agency plan, the owner manages all of the account's workspaces.
  • You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract.

3. Free trial

New accounts get a free trial of 7 days with the limits shown on the pricing page. No card is needed. When the trial ends, data collection stops and your dashboard stays readable until you choose a paid plan. We may refuse or end a trial that appears to be abused, for example through repeated accounts.

4. Subscriptions and payment

  • Paid plans are monthly subscriptions. They renew automatically each month until you cancel.
  • Payments are processed securely by Razorpay. Cards are charged the equivalent amount in INR; international cards are accepted. Prices in USD are shown for reference only; if your card is in another currency, your bank converts the charge and may add a fee.
  • Prices include or exclude taxes as shown at checkout. If a sales tax, VAT, GST or similar tax applies, it will be shown on your invoice.
  • If a renewal payment fails, your workspaces move to a past-due state: collection stops but your data is kept. Collection resumes once payment succeeds.
  • We may change prices for future billing periods. We will email you at least 30 days before a price change affects your subscription, and you can cancel before it takes effect.

5. Cancellation, changes and refunds

You can cancel at any time from the app's billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Upgrades, downgrades and refunds are handled as described in our refund policy, which forms part of these terms.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use CiteGaps for anything unlawful, or to track or profile private individuals;
  • enter questions or workspace details that are abusive, defamatory, or that infringe someone else's rights;
  • try to get around plan limits, credit caps or the free check's rate limits, including by creating multiple accounts;
  • resell or sublicense raw access to CiteGaps, other than sharing reports and drafts with your own clients as the Agency plan intends;
  • probe, scan or test the security of the service, or interfere with its operation;
  • scrape the service or use automated means to access it other than through features we provide;
  • use drafts to publish misleading claims about your own or anyone else's business.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Where the breach can be fixed, we will tell you first and give you a reasonable chance to fix it.

7. AI answers are samples

AI answer engines give different answers to the same question depending on timing, location, wording, account and other factors we do not control. Every answer CiteGaps collects is a sample taken at one moment, and scores are calculated from those samples. They show trends; they are not a complete or permanent record of what any engine says.

Brand extraction, sentiment and recommendations are produced partly by AI models and can contain mistakes. Check the evidence before you act on a recommendation.

8. No guarantee of results

CiteGaps does not control, and cannot guarantee, how any AI engine or search engine ranks, mentions or cites your brand. Following our recommendations or publishing our drafts may or may not change how often you are mentioned. We do not promise any particular ranking, visibility, traffic or revenue outcome.

9. Your content and drafts

  • You own the data you put into CiteGaps and the drafts and reports it produces for you. You give us permission to process that content only to provide and improve the service for you.
  • Drafts are generated by AI and are starting points. Review, edit and fact-check them before you publish. You are responsible for what you publish.
  • You confirm that you have the right to upload any logo or brand material you add for white-label reports.

10. Our service

We own CiteGaps, its software and its design. These terms give you the right to use the service during your subscription; they do not transfer any ownership. We may improve, change or remove features. If we remove a core feature of your paid plan, we will tell you in advance and you may cancel.

We aim to keep CiteGaps available and accurate, but it depends on third-party data providers, AI models and hosting. There may be interruptions, delays or partial weeks. When fewer answers arrive than expected, the week is marked as partial.

11. Liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including lost profits, revenue, business or goodwill;
  • our total liability for any claim relating to CiteGaps is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the event that gave rise to the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

12. Ending the agreement

You can stop using CiteGaps and delete your account at any time. We may end these terms by giving you 30 days' notice by email, or immediately if you seriously breach them. When your account is deleted, your data is purged as described in our privacy policy.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Before starting any formal dispute, please contact us so that we can try to resolve the issue. Subject to that, the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from these terms or your use of CiteGaps.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you, we will email you at least 15 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use CiteGaps after that date means you accept the new terms.
